A Midwestern contractor called and was having trouble pumping a polyurea joint filler on a high profile and time sensitive job.

A local SealBoss technical representative was able to meet the contractor at his shop in Kansas City the same day to take a close look at the JointMaster joint filling machine.

Upon initial inspection it was clear that JointMaster pump had not been serviced correctly. The ISO component of the material had been left in the pump for an extended period of time and had partially crystalized in the stainless steel hopper.

Pumps and Equipment don’t always get the treatment, care and maintenance they need to work properly.

This rugged JointMaster pump had been neglected and rebuilt before. It’s modular and sturdy design allows for a long service life and quick replacement of components.

Please call us for support and we will do our best to get you up and running.

After cleaning the crystalized material from the tank, the gear box cover was removed to inspect the chain and  seized gears that may cause the pump to not pump material.

Once the motor mount was loosened, the chain was removed and the gears were checked. It was determined that the gear pump for the Iso component had seized and material had leaked from the seal which caused the gear to seize in place to the shank of the gear pump.

The hardened Iso component was carefully heated and softened till the gear was loose enough to turn by hand. The chain was re-tensioned and remaining material from the other hopper was pumped into a bucket for re-use.

The JointMaster machine was then thoroughly cleaned and a new gear pump for the Iso component was installed.

The whole process of diagnosis, purging, cleaning and installation of a new gear pump took approximately two hours.

The pump was now in working order and ready for use.

SealBoss Injection Guideline Part 3

Injection Pump Guideline

How to Select Injection Pumps

Choosing Your Pump

Choose from a selection of professional and proven injection and dispensing pumps, designed and built to suit your specific needs.

Consider job size, product components and properties, required injection volumes and pressures, and your injection frequency as determining factors for your purchase.

For injection grouts, epoxy resins and gels, single and two component high-pressure pumps are used. Look for quality built and components that are suitable to match the requirements of the products and application.

To be compatible with acrylic injection gels, our gel injection pump components are made from high grade stainless steel to withstand the corrosive nature of some of the gel components. Our acrylic gel injection pumps come equipped with a separate water flush pump for immediate cleaning.

Lower cost dispensers are available for smaller jobs and tighter budgets.
