Product Description

SealBoss ® HD80 Traffic is high quality, liquid applied, seamless, moisture cured heavy duty waterproof coating system. The SealBoss HD80 Traffic system consists of a primer and a premium, solvent free, low odor, aromatic urethane formulation, plus catalyst for decreased cure times.

SealBoss HD80 Traffic heavy duty elastomeric coating system is designed to withstand vehicular and pedestrian traffic of varying degrees. Increasing durability grades and dry mil thickness are achieved by multiple layer application of product and aggregate. The final product expands and contracts with normal structural movements, protects surfaces from spalling, freeze/thaw damage, and also from chemicals related to automotive traffic. SealBoss HD80 Traffic is highly resistant to hot and cold weather cycles. Proper installation and maintenance in accordance with all recommendations will result in good longevity of the product.

Installation Guidelines

Preparation
Prepare surface by cleaning it thoroughly. Bridge or fill any joints, cracks, and flashings as needed. Consider SealBoss  QuickFix Floor Repair Products for the treatment of cracks and spalls. Check area of application to ensure that it conforms to the substrate requirements as stated in the general guidelines.

Coating Primer
Prime all surfaces. Concrete should be primed with SealBoss  Polyurethane Primer at a rate of 1 gallon (mixture of Part-A & Part-B) / 300 sq. ft. (0.15 liters/m²). Apply using a brush or phenolic core roller. This will result in a 3 dry mils (76 microns) thick membrane. Steel flashings should be primed with Epoxy Primer. Use Primer in accordance with your local VOC regulations. Allow primer to become tack free before proceeding to Coating Layer 1.

Coating Layer 1
Apply SealBoss HD80 Traffic to substrate at a rate of 0.75 gallon/100 sq. ft. (0.31 liters m²). To decrease cure time, up to one 0.5 pint (125 ml) bottle of SealBoss Catalyst per 5 gal SealBoss HD80 Traffic product may be added. For best results use a notched trowel or squeegee. A phenolic core roller may be used but extra care should be taken to prevent air bubbles. Spread mixed SealBoss HD80 Traffic evenly over the entire surface resulting in a 12 ± 2 dry mils (280 ± 50 microns) thick membrane. Allow SealBoss ® HD80 Traffic to cure a minimum of 16 hours, or 6 to 10 hours if catalyzed.

Coating Layer 2
For heavy traffic areas and ramps apply SealBoss HD80 Traffic at a rate of 1 gallon/100 sq. ft. (0.40 liters/m²). To decrease cure time, up to one 0.5 pint (125 ml) bottle of SealBoss Catalyst per 5 gal SealBoss HD80 Traffic product may be added. Broadcast washed, dry, rounded sand, 20 mesh (0.05 in.; 1.2 mm), with 6.5 + Moh’s minimum hardness into the wet SealBoss HD80 Traffic at the rate of 10 lbs/100 sq. ft. This coat will result in an additional 16 ± 2 dry mils (360± 50 microns) thick membrane plus aggregate volume. Before proceeding to Layer 3 allow SealBoss HD80 Traffic to cure a minimum of 16 hours, or 6 to 10 hours if catalyzed.

Coating Layer 3
Apply a second coat of SealBoss HD 80 over the entire surface, including heavy traffic areas, at a rate of 3/4 gallon/100 sq. ft. (0.31 liters/m²). To decrease cure time, up to one 0.5 pint (125 ml) bottle of SealBoss ® Catalyst per 5 gal SealBoss ® HD 80 product may be added. Broadcast washed, dry, rounded sand, 20 mesh (0.05 in.; 1.2 mm), with 6.5+ Moh’s minimum hardness into the wet SealBoss HD 80 at the rate of 10 lbs/100 sq. ft. This coat will result in an additional 12 ± 2 dry mils (280 ± 50 microns) thick membrane plus aggregate volume. Before proceeding to Layer 4, allow SealBoss HD 80 to cure a minimum of 16 hours, or 6 to 10 hours if catalyzed..

Coating Layer 4
Apply the third coat of SealBoss HD 80 at the rate of 1 gallon/100 sq. ft. (0.41 liters/m²) over the cured product with aggregate. To decrease cure time, up to one 0.5 pint (125 ml) bottle of SealBoss ® Catalyst per 5 gal SealBoss HD 80 product may be added. This coat will result in an additional 16 ± 2 dry mils (360 ± 50 microns) thick membrane. At conditions of 70°F and 50% relative humidity allow light foot traffic after 24 hours and vehicular traffic not before 72 hours cure time. This recommendation is also valid for catalyzed product.

Accelerated Cure
The use of 0.5 pint (125 ml) SealBoss Catalyst per 5 gallon product will shorten cure time to 6 to 10 hours for each coat. For best results apply next layer within 8 to 12 hours.

Finished System
When applied as directed above, the SealBoss HD 80 vehicular deck system will provide 50 dry mils (plus aggregate) of superior waterproofing protection.
