SEALBOSS-WATER-STOP-CRACK-INJECTION-LEAK-SEAL-INJECTION-GUIDELINEProduct Description

SealBoss FlexGel Hydrophilic NSF LV Gel is a low-viscosity, single component hydrophilic polyurethane gel injection rubber and chemical injection grout offering excellent penetration properties, superior strength and durability.

At a mixing ratio of 1 part SealBoss FlexGel to 10 parts water by volume, the mixed product has a super low viscosity of 50 cps. The product is capable of incorporating large amounts of water into itself, thereby forming a waterproofing gel / injection rubber. The ability of SealBoss FlexGel leak-seal to swell and increase in volume due to water absorption is one of the important features that differentiate hydrophilic grouts from their hydrophobic counterparts. SealBoss FlexGel is certified for water contact in accordance with NSF standard 61, for contact with potable water.

SealBoss FlexGel can either react to a foam or a gel on contact with water based on the mixing ratio. The product forms a flexible gel at product to water ratios from 1:4 to 1:15. Less water results in a stronger gel. The gel time is about 1 to 3 minutes varying with temperature and water saturation. At low product to water ratios of 1:1 to 1:2 SealBoss  FlexGel reacts to a flexible and closed cell foam under pressure. To achieve most satisfying and permanent results, a combination of SealBoss  FlexGel with other systems of our product line may be advised. Ask your SealBoss technician for details. The product is for professional use.

Installation Guidelines

Multi ratio pump: For best results, SealBoss FlexGel should be injected with a multi ratio pump at preset product to water ratio to achieve the desired gel consistency and properties.

Single component pump: The product may also be applied with single component injection equipment. The presence of sufficient water in the substrate is necessary for the product to form a gel. It may be advisable to introduce water prior to injection. In areas of very little water content and little counter pressure the product may expand to a foam.

For curtain / bladder injection methods behind below grade structures it is recommended to drill through the structure in a pattern that is determined by the physical properties of the soil.

To create a standard checkerboard pattern, holes are drilled 50 cm (two feet) apart from each other in a horizontal line. The next step is to drill holes in a line 50 cm above the first line in the same fashion but staggered. Begin injection at the highest point. Each packer should be injected until material penetrates the surrounding drill holes. Patterns may vary according to conditions on the jobsite.

About SealBoss Hydrophilic Polyurethane Injection Gel

Hydrophilic (hydro = ‘water’, philic = ‘affinity for’) resins seek out and incorporate water in a crack while migrating into tight micro-fine cracks and pores of the substrate.  Hydrophilic polymer injection gel grouts  achieve a mechanical bond in  rough areas of the concrete as they absorb deep into the pores and micro cracks of the concrete. Hydrophilic resins can achieve a strong bond to the wet concrete which can be superior to hydrophobic resins, which rely more on high injection pressures to penetrate into fine pores and rely more on a compression seal created by the reactive expansion.

Do Hydrophilic Resins Shrink in the Absence of Water in Crack Injection?

SealBoss FlexGel hydrophilic polyurethane resin will absorb as much water as it needs to facilitate the reaction during initial cure. If used as a single component injection grout without water mixed into the product prior to crack injection, FlexgGel will reject excess water similar to a hydrophobic polyurethane foam grout and the cured FlexGel Injection Rubber product will perform in line with the hydrophobic grouts.
